At Humana Nova, we believe that sustainability in the textile industry is not just a choice, but a necessity. That is why we are guided by the principles of sustainable production
We carefully select the materials we work with, sourcing them according to fair trade principles. We design and sew our products using locally sourced and/or eco-certified materials, most often certified organic cotton. We also create garments from existing materials – donated surplus (larger fabric scraps or leftover rolls) or production leftovers, as well as high-quality second-hand clothing.Throughout the entire production chain, we contribute to environmental protection, social entrepreneurship, and inclusivity.
Our cutting methods are designed to maximize material use – placing more pattern pieces within a single fabric width to reduce waste.
We collect leftover fabric from cutting and reuse it in upcycling, creative textile recycling workshops, or send it for recycling. When needed, we donate it to associations or schools for their creative or humanitarian projects. In short – we throw nothing away.
Sustainability also means how we treat the people who work in our cooperative. There are no strict quotas – just a pace we can sustain in the long run. Jobs are adapted to individuals, not the other way around. Our goal is to ensure working conditions that include marginalized groups and allow them to thrive.
Our tailoring and sewing workshop produces high-quality items for the business sector and clothing for our webshop. We only produce garments based on customer orders, and for the webshop, we create small, limited, and functional clothing lines based on our customers' real needs.
