On the last Friday of May, 150 L'Oréal Group employees spent a day at Humana Nova volunteering. They worked side-by-side with 55 Humana Nova employees, including 38 people with disabilities. Through this initiative, the L'Oréal team completed a total of 750 volunteer hours.
From sorting textiles to preparing a shared lunch
L'Oréal volunteers helped in several departments. Each group of volunteers had a mentor from Humana. Working together with Humana employees, they:
- Loaded more than 18 tons of textiles and helped sort another eight tons of goods.
- Brought and assembled much-needed new storage cabinets for our creative department.
- Helped stuff 147 pillows, pack 918 T-shirts, prepare 1,300 labels, and cut and pack 1,200 meters of felt.
- Prepared a shared lunch consisting of thousands of pancakes, langoši, trganci, and ćevapčići.
Creative workshops for a good cause
The initiative also had a charitable side. At a workshop at the Čakovec Education Center - a public center dedicated to children and young people with developmental disabilities - volunteers made 210 pencil cases. These pencil cases were donated to the Center’s users. At the same time, at Humana Nova, others made and painted different items like canvas bags, brooches and necklaces These items were also donated to the Center's student cooperative to help them raise funds for a trip to the seaside.
These workshops are part of a long-term partnership between the organizations. After finishing school, former students from the Center regularly find jobs at Humana Nova. This gives them a chance for meaningful work, financial independence, and true inclusion.
Global volunteer initiative: Citizen Day
This one-day event was part of L'Oréal's global volunteer initiative, Citizen Day. The program enables their employees to spend a regular workday supporting local social enterprises or environmental non-profits, directly contributing to their goals.
