Following a major event with L’Oréal Groupemployees this May, our Čakovec facility has once again become the center of a corporate volunteering initiative. On Friday, July 10, a group of employees from the telecommunications company A1 Hrvatska spent their workday volunteering at Humana Nova instead of at their usual workplace.
We introduced them to our circular economy model and our practices for employing people from vulnerable social groups, which have been the core pillars of our work for 15 years. After touring our production facility, A1 Hrvatska volunteers joined our daily operations. Working together with our employees, they contributed to the work and goals of our social enterprise.
They helped with loading, unloading, and sorting textiles, packaging felt, cutting industrial rags, and participated in creative workshops using fabric scraps. They saw firsthand what happens to textiles after they are collected and why every piece we save from waste is important – not just for the environment, but also for the community. They also saw how sustainable products are made, which we have been sewing for their needs too, through our long-term partnership with A1 Hrvatska.
During a break from work, we hung out over a Međimurje brunch with local delicacies. At the end of the day, we surprised our hardworking volunteers with a homemade dessert Međimurska gibanica.
